Scala training with Bill Venners and Dick Wall in Ann Arbor

March 31, 2011 in events, News

SRT Solutions is thrilled to announce that Bill Venners, author of Programming in Scala, and Dick Wall of the Java Posse, will be coming to Ann Arbor to teach their 3 and 5 day courses on Scala. The training is scheduled for May 23-27.  Beginner course is May 23-25, with the advanced course following, May 26-27.

The 3-day course Fundamentals/Refresher is targeted at beginning Scala programmers, with other programming language experience.  Following the 3-day course, they will give their 2-day Advanced/Applied Topics.  If you’re interested in the advanced course, but not sure if you have all of the background necessary, sign up for the full 5-days.

Bill and Dick have previously only provided the public version of their course in the Bay Area.  We’re really fortunate that they have decided to come to Ann Arbor to give the class.  For more information, or to register, visit their website.

New registration process for AAJUG.org

August 18, 2010 in News

REGISTER NOW – I’ve just installed “SI CAPTCHA” Anti-Spam – WordPress Plugin by Mike Challis. It adds CAPTCHA anti-spam methods to WordPress on the comment form, registration form, login, or all. In order to post comments or regiser, users will have to type in the phrase shown on the image.

I deleted a bunch of “users” with names and or email addresses that did not seem real. Anybody can now register for the site and this plugin will help protect us from the bots that have been registering.

I am going to post info about this to our Yahoo user group and encourage people to join here. We’ve recently had some new job posts and I’m hoping we can get more people using this site.

Future plans include adding social networking capabilities to the site for our members.
