We will keep the Yahoo Group going at first, but direct traffic here. We will also be adding any Yahoo Group member to this site. We'll also publish instructions about how to get notifications. Once it seems that people have migrated, we will close down the Yahoo group.

Am I automatically a member if I was a member of the Yahoo site?

Are you abandoning the Yahoo site? (otherwise activity will be split into two overlapping groups)

Will we still get email notification of activity?

I attended the presentation by Jim Weaver.

He highlighted the features of JavaFX, showed examples and code (using NetBeans).

NetBeans (don't know the version) already has the required packages for JavaFX.

Most importantly, he is developing an application in an iterative fashion.

Here is as-is from the blog site:

"To acknowledge the Detroit Java Users Group for inviting me to give a JavaFX presentation, I'm starting a project that features Detroit-born musician Bob Seger. We'll build this project in an iterative manner together, with each post adding new functionality and improving the application's appearance."

You can find the above application and more tips on JavaFX at http://learnjavafx.typepad.com/ or http://javafxpert.com

I attended the Cloud Camp. Here is my report(!):

1. Very informative and useful. Good opportunity for networking, especially with UoM associates.
2. Google (http://code.google.com/appengine/), Microsoft (http://microsoft.com/azure) and Hiperlogic (http://hiperlogic.com/) were the sponsors and they all talked about the Cloud Computing offering.
3.Unpanel (informal panel from the audience) answered about 10 questions surrounding Cloud Computing.
4. Steve Fentriss from Routinverse (http://routiniverse.com/) demonstrated a file editor using web browser and collaboration across the cloud.
5. Eli from Ann Arbor District Library (http://aadl.org) presented free computing resources available from AADL.
5.Informal breakout sessions covered topics on High Performance Computing, Data in Cloud Computing, Security, Culture/Society Change due to Cloud Computing, Google App Engine, Developing applications using Windows Azure, Amazon EC2 instance, etc.
6. Additional URLs on upcoming technical events and networking - http://a2geeks.org, coffeehousecoders.org, http://www.meetup.com/a2newtech/.
